Whoa! What a fun and powerful class. Your "Where I'm From" presentations are incredible! Thanks for your tremendous effort and time. Here's what we worked on:
Learning Targets:
Learning Targets:
- I can demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of locations and regions (KN 7).
- I can communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally (CO 1).
- I can communicate and work effectively within a team or group (BLT 3).
- I can demonstrate understanding of the characteristics of locations and regions with my "Where I'm From" presentation.
- RAP: We opened class by giving students a few minutes to review their presentations and address any outstanding questions they had. I also spent time reviewing the process for presenting.
- "Where I'm From" presentations: In groups of 10, students presented their "Where I'm From" projects, taking time to give appreciations and ask open-ended questions to one another. Click here for some of the standout examples I received. Students did an excellent job of sharing where they're from and connecting their lives with the terms, concepts, and ideas we've discussed this unit. Click here for examples shown in class.
- Closing: To end class, I provided students with some light snacks (cookies, fruit) as a way to help mark the end of our unit. I believe rituals like this help students transition from learning topic to learning topic, providing opportunities to reflect on academic successes and identify areas for future improvement.
