Hi class! Sorry I could not be with you today, but I am looking forward to hearing more about how you like the mixer and your learning about the major economic systems in society today.
Learning Target:
Learning Target:
- I can self-direct my learning
- I can demonstrate an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of various economic systems.
- I can present and record important characteristics of four main economic systems and compare and contrast at least two.
- RAP: To open class, students first reviewed their economic systems mixer roles and finalized their 60 second speeches on their graphic organizers. The goal here is to give students a chance to remember what they worked on in class Tuesday, and prepare for their opportunity to teach other students about their assigned economic system.
- Main Stage: Next students met with one another in class, completing the remainder of their graphic organizers with key characteristics from each economic system. Students spent a big chunk of class discussing their characters. The goal here is to give students a chance to teach one another and use the academic and economic vocabulary that, unfortunately, is not practiced much.
- Closing: To end class, students began working on their Economic Systems Compare and Contrast paragraphs. After meeting with three other major economic systems, students chose one system they wanted to learn more about and met with a classmate with that assigned role. Together, they worked on compare and contrast paragraphs to deepen their understanding of the various economic systems. Each student is responsible for completing their own paragraph and uploading it onto Canvas. This is due by the end of the day tomorrow (Friday, since it is an "A" day).
