Hi everyone! Great seeing you again today. Before we move too deeply into our new unit, make sure to complete any outstanding or missing work. It will become harder and harder to make up past work as spring turns to summer!
Learning Target:
Learning Target:
- I can self-direct my learning
- I can demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of economics.
- I can consider the impacts of economic inequality in my own life and in the United States.
- RAP: To open class, we reviewed the definitions of capitalism and inequality by taking a look at your exit tickets from last class. Remember, understanding the basic principles of economics means understanding the rules of how economic systems works. Since we live in a predominately capitalist, market economic system, we will be learning about the rules of the market, supply and demand, and production and consumption. But before we get into the rules, we need to spend time reflecting on the purpose of understanding these rules. By understanding the basic principles of economics, we can see how systems work and ultimately how to improve them. One of the major dilemmas in our economic is wealth and resource inequality - so we are starting our unit by considering the impacts of this problem that affects us all!
- Main Stage: We finished watching Capitalism: A Love Story. Students completed a graphic organizer along the way, in preparation for a reflection assignment on Canvas.
- Closing: Students completed their graphic organizers and then began working on the Capitalism & Inequality Reflection assignment (posted on Canvas).
