Hi Global Studies scholars! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you today! Here is what we worked on:
See you Monday!
- Quotes: Students walked around the room and reviewed the several quotes placed at each desk from prominent thinkers and writers including: James Baldwin, Eleanor Roosevelt, Gandhi, Adrienne Rich, and Malala Yousafzai. Students wrote about the quotes, and then shared their thinking with classmates.
- Name Game: We then played a simple name game that requires each person in class to memorize their classmates' names. What a blast. Of course many of us (including me) stumbled along the way, but that's the point. We must work to know our classmates.
- "Where I'm From:" We started working on our "Where I'm From" poems by carefully reading and analyzing George Ella Lyon's "Where I'm From." The goal with this activity is to allow each student to tell their own story about where they are from.
See you Monday!
