- RAP: We opened class by reviewing the claims made by former President Bill CLinton about NAFTA. Students met in their groups and discussed their findings.
- Main Stage: Next, briefly described the immediate aftermath of NAFTA, before introducing students to research about NAFTA, summarizing its effects 20 years after. Using Public Citizen's research, NAFTA's Broken Promises, students examined different elements of NAFTA's impact in the past 20 years. They made counter-claims in response to Clinton's, using evidence from the text. Afterward, students shared their findings with the rest of class followed by a class discussion of the lessons learned about NAFTA. This is particularly important given President Trump's wish to renegotiate the trade agreement.
- Closing: Students then spent time reflecting on their semester in economics, providing me with written and verbal feedback.
